The British Sew-a-Row 2023

Last spring I teamed up with four amazing British quilt designers - my pandemic zoom-buddies - to create a special quilt for the late Queen's platinum jubilee.

As we all work alone, we relished the chance to get together and create a joint project. And - you've guessed it - we had such a brilliant time we've designed another quilt for 2023, which also *ahem* happens to feature a modest royal occasion.

Yasmeen, from Sand & Stars, hasn't been able to join us this year, as she's busy launching her first block of the month programme (and if you were smitten by Yasmeen's applique row last year, you are definitely going to want to sign up!). But the lovely Lou Orth Designs, Jo from The Crafty Nomad Sonia from Fabric & Flowers and I have teamed up again to bring you a project that I hope King Charles would approve of, because we have chosen a gardening theme and the King is a devoted organic gardener.

This year we were determined to get together in person to piece the quilt top and rented a cottage in the picturesque Cotswolds for a weekend of sewing (we also treated ourselves to a few hours off for a delicious meal on Saturday night). To top it all - trumpet fanfare, please - we are excited that Liberty gifted us the fabric to bring our design to reality. It's been wonderful working with them to choose a fabric line that complements the design so well. Nothing says 'English garden' like a Liberty floral.

We are waiting until after the Coronation weekend to share some sneak peeks on Instagram - with our patterns due for release on Friday the 12th of May. As last year, look out for a splendid introductory offer! We'll be sharing a couple of setting options - both inspired by our gardening theme - along with a few ideas for smaller projects.

Jo sent me photos of our freshly quilted project today and it looked bloomin' wonderful. I really can't wait to share it with you next month,

Nicola xx
