Welcome to month six of the Today's Quilter block of the month. It's hard to believe, but we're now halfway through our stroll through Primrose Hill. This month we‘re going to dodge the spring showers in a favourite bookshop and browse for a vintage book.
I may have mentioned before that I am a devoted book collector. No high street is complete without a bookshop, in my humble opinion, and if I visit a town I love nothing more than browsing in the local bookshop for a souvenir of my trip. So when I decided that my sampler needed some shops I just had to include one. My block is modelled on Primrose Hill Books on Regent's Park Road with its distinctive blue shopfront, an independent, family-owned bookshop that has been trading there for over forty years.
As we stroll home with our new find we'll be passing the Park, where a London Pigeon perches on the hedge, looking for the girl of his dreams (we'll be meeting her soon).
As last month, you can substitute rectangles of a green print to replace the pieced railings in my block. You will need 1 5½” x 18½” green printed pieces (omitting steps 2 - 4 in the directions) to replace the railings.
You can find my block patterns in issue 86 of Today's Quilter and when you've finished sewing do me a favour: go and buy something wonderful from your local bookshop!
