Did Someone Say Cake?

Ooh, I have such exciting news to share with you: I have a project in a book! It's the latest project book from Moda Bakeshop and it's all about my favourite pre-cut, the Layer Cake, hence the wonderful title, guaranteed to get my attention...

I've been bursting to tell you about it since I made my project and posted it off to publishers, Martingale, in Seattle last Christmas. Needless to say, I couldn't have met my deadline without my fabulous friend Jayne, who quilted it in double-quick time. She's an angel!

The book won't be out until the 1st of February, but you can get a sneak peek of the projects on the Martingale website and pre-order it from your favourite bookshop. I am in wonderful company and my fellow Bakeshop chefs have whipped up some gorgeous projects for you to make.

So, what did I make? I started with a Layer Cake of Spring Brook by Corey Yoder, full of prints in shades of forget-me-not blue, fresh green, sunny yellow and charcoal grey. There is a sweet bee print in the collection that inspired my quilt - it's called Blossom - full of spring flowers and busy Bumblebees. The photographs have been exquisitely styled and beautifully photographed by Martingale. Isn't that armoire gorgeous?

It will be a long wait until next spring when I can finally hold a copy of the book in my hands. I'll be sharing the joy with an extra copy and a Spring Brook Layer Cake to give away. With the forget-me-nots blooming and the Bumblebees waking up, the timing will be perfect!
