I had some exciting news this week: the latest scrumptious project book from Moda Bakeshop and Martingale will be arriving in bookshops this October (early!) and this time we've been playing with everyone's favourite gateway pre-cut, the charm pack. I'm sure we all have one or two *ahem* of those lovely little stacks of 5" squares in our stashes and, as always, my fellow chefs have come up with so many clever ways to use them.

Contributing to this book brought back lots of good memories: I first discovered charm packs – and quilting – twelve years ago and my very first project was Camille Roskelley’s table runner posted on the Moda Bakeshop and made with a charm pack. I was smitten!
I really wanted to design something that built on those fond memories and used just one charm pack, so have designed a table runner, called Charming Pots, which I made in Corey Yoder's aptly named Beautiful Day collection. Once again my fabulous friend Jayne quilted it for me. How could I make a deadline without her!
The flowerpot block is crammed with beginner-friendly techniques: nine-patches, half-square triangles, easy corner triangles and creating angles without templates. I also hope it will be fun and appealing for more experienced quilters looking for a fun, quick project or - and this would be my dream - to teach a friend to quilt.

The book is due to be published on the 3rd of October - in good time to put on your Christmas list - but you can get a sneak peek of the projects on the Martingale website and pre-order it from your favourite bookshop.

Christmas will be coming early for someone as I've tucked away a Beautiful Day charm pack for a subscriber giveaway when the book arrives. I can't wait to share this lovely new book with you,
Nicola xx
