Sewing can be a rather messy business, no matter how tidy I try to be, so I sometimes imagine having a tiny troupe of helpers in my sewing room, who would appear magically at the end of the day - when I’ve left my worktable and turned off the lights - to tidy away the snippets of thread and ribbon and pick up the pins I’ve accidentally dropped.
I’d reward them handsomely with biscuit crumbs and shirt buttons...
The Button Mice are arriving in the studio soon and there's plenty of tidying for them to be getting on with - so I've opened up pre-orders in the shop with a very special treat!
To celebrate the arrival of Tilda's Sanctuary fabric, Andrea & Laurie at the Willow Cottage Quilt Co. designed a practical and oh-so-pretty Tote Bag and I added a teeny tiny little mouse motif to the pocket. The pattern is exclusive to the Willow Cottage but Andrea has generously allowed me to share the Country Mouse Tote PDF Pattern with you when you pre-order the Button Mouse pattern book (she's awfully nice like that!).
The Button Mouse blocks are machine pieced and use my favourite snowballed corner technique, with some optional touches of embroidery to add tiny tails and little faces with simple backstitch.
As with last year's Country Mice the pattern will be available as a sweet little A5 (half letter) booklet, which can be pre-ordered here for dispatch the week commencing the 23rd of September.
And look out for a special blog post on launch week showing you how to use the Button Mouse pattern to create a mini(-ish) quilt for your sewing room. I can't guarantee it will come to life and tidy up though...
