It's the final week of our summer sew-along and for those of you looking for the border and finishing instructions, you can find them here.
In addition I have some wonderful eye-candy for you this week. Grab a cup of tea - heck, bring the pot - and prepare to be spellbound by the work of our sew-along participants:
In weeks 1-3 we made a Gothic Gatehouse, a Pumpkin and a Moon & Star block. A few of us were sewing with Pepper & Flax, but I was most excited to see what other fabrics would be used. I quite like fabric...
Weeks 4-6 saw us tackling Toadstools and starting to make dresden fans for the Mervielle du Jour and Moonlit Bat blocks. There was some delicious fussy-cutting on those Toadstool caps.
And in weeks 7-9 we made some beautiful birds, the Raven and the Wise Owl, and our final block, the Cobweb. It's safe to say that most of us - me included - were happier embroidering spiders than handling the real thing.
While I was having fun making photo collages (I use FrameMagic on my iphone) I couldn't resist trying a block layout...
I've had the most wonderful summer sewing along with a wonderful group of ladies. Sadly my partner in crime, Andrea from The Willow Cottage Quilt Company, had the most dreadful fall and broke her ankle very badly. Despite that, she has been cheering us on and we all wish her a speedy recovery and a swift return to her beloved sewing machine.
I'm really looking forward to seeing finished quilt tops popping up in my Instagram feed over the next few weeks. You can find all the posts with the hashtag #spellboundsewalong, so go and say hello to all of our talented makers.
My borders will have to wait a while as this week I'm busy preparing for the Festival of Quilts. I'll be taking my first Spellbound Sampler to the show, so if you're going, come and see it - and me - on stand C7. And if you don't have the pattern yet, I'll be taking paper copies of the most popular blocks, the Gothic Gatehouse, Raven and Wise Owl, plus the first copies of a collated Spellbound Sampler Pattern Book with all nine blocks, my notes on choosing fabric and the finishing instructions...
There will be some limited edition copies for sale on the website when I get home and in September it will available on Amazon through CreateSpace. I'll keep you posted on a publication date. Right now I have a few more patterns to fold, but first, more tea...
